Pasted 3d Vect. hatch vanishes when moved.

Currently working on saving some 3d views, and I want to be able to paste them to a 2d window to clean them up(no my model is not perfect, and this is faster for the moment).

So I have used a dotted pattern to represent stucco, and in perspective it looks great. I also have a nice long curvy pattern to look like rough-hewn wood (can you believe I work in NYC?) Here is the problem: I copy the view from 3d, and paste it on the floor plan (or section or detail window) and the hatch is there. A-OK. Then I want to move my drawing to make room for my next view, and my stucco vanishes, but note my curvy wood pattern remains. If I don't move it, no problem, I can clean my drawing, and get the final result I want. But I don't want to have a separate window for each drawing. (10 views = 10 extra stories, section or details. 1 should do).

My current theory is that the stucco (dotted pattern) creates lines that are really, really short. When I try to move them, Archicad thinks there is nothing there and so it wants to help clean up my mess...drawing.

What's the solution?

I am not sure what you problem is but copy and pasting vectorial fills in 3d will result in convertion to lines. Not a very desirable arrangment as it will increase file size and complexitiy of the redraw. Editing could become a nightmare. Maybe your converted stucco pattern is taxing your video card too much.

BTW I put all my section views in separate windows. One thing I really hate is getting a drawing from someone who has put all their sections or elevations into one window. Future editing and changes ar a pain and become untrustworthy particulary inregard to real levels or dimensions.
Also as you hve noted the window can get overloaded with too much "line" information.

When I first started with Archicad (over 12 years ago) I had noone to help me. I still vividly remember creating an office reflected ceiling plan where I used lines to create everything including the light fittings ( which of course should of be objects). The screen redraw times were ridiculously long.

Don't.

Clean your model up, and make yourself do it properly. Doing that takes LESS time than tarting up the copied lines; line overload notwithstanding.

I love the sound of Publisher chugging away ...
