I think that there are too many updates... Graphisoft must work hard to improve the stability of this software !

Remember though that Microsoft's windows & Apple's OS X update their OS during the course of an AC version, thus Graphisoft may also need to rework AC in order to function properly with someones OS.

Hi,

The main issue is when I plan to complete an ArchiCAD project as scheduled, but the last one doesn't want to run because of its instability. That one affects the project deliverable and extra work is required to complete it successfully. At this point, it is important that adjustments be made accordingly...

I love ArchiCAD, but I don't like this kind of issues.

Mjules it is never a good idea to install an update of any software if you are doing urgent work on a current project for a deadline. It does sometimes happen that the update has fixes related to specific issues you may be having on that very same project.

Rather wait with the update till after the deadline if possible.

It is good practice (especially in a very busy / large practice) to install the same version of ArchiCAD on another "Test Computer" or in another folder (next to the existing installation) and install the Update on this test installation.

This way you can first test the updated version of ArchiCAD on your project or a copy of the project to make the decision if it is the right thing to do at this time.

You do what it takes to protect your current project and the deliverables for the deadline.

I hope this helps you to avoid loss and frustration.

I would agree to never upgrade/update if you have a project with an urgent deadline.

Why not duplicate your Archicad programme folder and rename it 'Archicad 18 - build xxxx' to represent whatever your current build is.
Then run the update/hotfix to update the program and the folder with the proper name will update as usual.
However you now have a copy of the old version as well that you can still use.
By renaming the folders you can determine which one (the one with the original name) opens the files by default.
Of course you can manually run any of the copies.
