Recessed windows

I've attached a couple of sketches for some typical recessed window details we like to use on custom homes, but don't know the best way to do these. #1 shows 2x6 stud exterior walls (we're not doing wall composites at this time), but then the window opening is oversized 3" (or more as reqd) and filled with 2x4's as shown for a 2" deep recess all the way around. Just am a little stumped how best to do get the 2x4 recessed wall in there.

Drawing #2 is similiar except that this one is a double 2x4 exterior wall with the window set in the INSIDE wall, thus creating a 4 1/2" deep recess. It would seem that the best way to do this is to do the inside wall with the windows, and then come back and add the outside wall joining it to the inside wall as shown, but maybe there's an easier way.

I'll try posting again the picture for the previous post.

I think I'll try Brewer's suggestion also which is to first cut the larger opening then build the thinner wall inside and set the window in it.

Frankly, the Door & Window Builder option for $199 is starting to have a lot of appeal....I'm not impressed at all with the AC SE9 window library. Seems like Graphisoft could have taken that placement option to the right and revised it to allow us to do both interior and exterior recesses.

Thank you again all of you for your input...frankly if it had not been for the user forum I would have put my two copies for sale on ebay.

If you do decide to go down the Window Builder track it would be better to get it from CADimage, here's the link

http://www.cadimagetools.com/home.php?page=products&productID=159

This has a little demo of the object. It was first developed by Theometric right here in NZ and is now looked after by CADimage, they are my local distributor and are a very helpful bunch, Campbell Yule knows all there is to know so if you have any questions you can ask.

Remember this is a single object which will handle about 99% of all the doors and windows your ever likely to use so it does have quite a complicated interface but once you get used to it is is very powerful.

Brewer, I checked out the Door & Window Builder and frankly it looks a bit too overwhelming at this point as we're still very much in the learning stage of AC. I did try out your suggestion to first make the opening in the 2x6 stud wall and and add a 2x4 stud wall inside, then set the window inside it. It works fine and also for repetitive locations, after making the hole in the 2x6 stud wall, I can just drag-copy the 2x4 wall with the window in it. I'm okay with the line where the 2x6 ends and the 2x4 starts.

I'll go this route for now as it's the simplest solution so far.

I thank all of you for your time and suggestions.

Zohrab, I'm jealous, the screenshot you show is very clean. It looks like you're using a different interface than I am (INT versus US ?). (
This is off topic, but this may help you get to a cleaner look. The right side can only be stretched when the left side is closed. The left side can then be reopened and the right will stay stretched.

Thx for the tip, but the "cleaner look" I was referring to had to do with the drawing of the window itself, the reference to the interface was a seperate comment as some of the particular settings shown in Zohrab's do not show up in my (US) interface.

At 1st: I'm using std AC9 INT library (not SE library).
In the drawing on my attached Screenshot I have used one of Metal Windows from AC9 lib and Empty Window with reveals on.
Josephus, have you set correct widths both windows and correct reveal size, maybe that's the problem. If yes, then try to draw the same with another window, maybe there that window has non correct 2d script.
