Redefining 3D view with parallel projections

Every time I try to do it it jumps back to perspective. Is it not possible to save a view with parallel projections?

Yes, it is possible to do.
I suspect that you activate another View which is saved with Perspective Projection, and then that setting is active in 3D.
But, if you save a View with Parallel Projection and then activate that View, it should restore that Parallel Projection.
