Roof Workaround

Not applicable
I am trying to make a model as realistic as possible, both in 3D and in Elevations.

To make the elevation look correctly, I have a roof plane which is 6" thick or high. This is using a Spanish tile style roof, and I want the roof itself to be 6" or 8" thick which would roughly be the height of tile.

In 3D, it is hard to tell the height of the tile so it really doesn't matter that much.

I apply a texture and a 3d hatch to it and as you can see from the attached, the face of the roof plane looks good, but the angle part of the roof plane doesn't.

It gets better if I use a 1/2" roof plane to mimic sheathing, but then it doesn't look good in elevation.

I have tried the roof tile maker but it takes about 10 minutes to generate a full model.

Ideally I would like to be able to show the tile on the roof correctly, and then have the tile wrap the fascia.

Any ideas.

Thanks,

Grant
