Scaling Factor for Symbol Lines

Anonymous
Not applicable
Does anyone have any advice on the scaling factor that is used when creating a symbol line? For example, if one draws a "wave" line, the height between the crests appears to be about 3/8". However, when I copy the two wave crests from the lines and paste them in my drawing, it appears as if the height is more than 11". Thanks for the help.

Open element attributes for line types and look at "scale independent" vs. "scale with plan" option. Try the OTHER one. (I can never remember which is which)

Thanks for the tip. However, regardless of the box I select, I am still getting unexpected results. By varying the length of the dash, the height changes and a percentage is displayed. However when I hit ok, the line appears to be saved with a different percentage. I can't seem to figure out a consistent correlation between the size of the line I want and the size of the line segments I input to create the line.
You may get some tips from this thread.

Richard, thanks for the threads. The last one really helped out. As you may realize, it's rather confusing but things are made a bit easier if you create the input for the lines using the layout mode since there everything is drawn at full scale.
