I'm not a guru so there are probably better answers than this but...
There are several ways to achieve this. The way I do it is by saving views of the model space which acts like a "favorites" list for established sets of parameters you want a specific drawing to have, otherwise known as a "view". Then those "favorite" views are used to populate your layouts and to navigate from one set of visual parameters to the next.
Say you want one floor with sections and the next without but otherwise they'll view the same. Set up the drawing like you want according to such things as scale and layers and cut-planes and model view options and etc. Put your section markers on their own layer and turn that layer on for the section-on drawing.
Right click on most entries in the Project Map tab or the View Map of the navigator and select "Save Current View". There is also a button at the bottom of the View Map tab that does this as well. There will be a new entry in the View Map that will be created. If you click on that entry it will return you to the recently saved view with all the parameters you had set when you saved it. Saves a lot of time instead of having to set up the model space for each need while drafting.
Double click on that view and now navigate to the section-off story. Turn the section marker layer off and now do the "Save Current View" and you will see that if you click on the first saved view and then the second you should have the same image parameters in each story but minus the section markers on the desired view.
Now you can place those saved views on your layouts or use them to quickly navigate around your project.
In my attached image you can see the View Map of the project I'm currently working on. I'm just starting on making this so it's a work in progress but you can see I have different views that I use. In the Drafting folder I have several that are saved 3D views and in my Imp/Metric views I have a whole slue of saved views ranging from general floor plan views to reflected ceiling plan views. A hint is you can create a new set of views in a different scale (but not limited to scale) by duplicating that folder (right click, choose said command) and then you can select all the newly created views in the duplicated folder, right click on them and select "Modify Source View" and you can change the same parameter in all the saved view at the same time.
