Shaping the underside of slabs

Greetings to all. specially old, but not forgotten colleagues:

I would like to shape the underside of the slab to a ceiling surface other than flat.

I am thinking about using a mesh as "operator" and the slab as the "target".
Or creating the shape with the mesh, saving as an object, and rotating it.
The shaped surface will be rather elaborate and may need several revisions.

Any ideas to make this process a "sane" procedure?

Oh, I almost forget. I am using AC10

It seems redundant to me to make a mesh, turn it into a lib part,
only to use it as an operator on a slab.
Why not make the mesh, save it as an object, use MULz -1
at the beginning of the MASS command to turn it upside down, and
use the object as your ceiling.

It might not work for all instances, but you can also move mesh points downward (-z) below the base of the mesh.

Could even use the Mesh-to-Roof Add-on from the Goodies website in your Help menu. Seems to me like it'd just be easier with SEO's though.

What type of ceiling shape are you wanting to make. If it has any type of similar cross section, you could always consider profiler.

Good point Mike. And in 10 you can also use Complex Profiles. We're using them now to make like coves and other shapley furr-downs.
