Shorcut for User Origin

Is it possible to set up a keyboard shortcut for the user origin. I want to ultimately add the shortcut to my mouse button?

i know this is an old thread, but I am wondering why you would want to do this. Why do you move your origin point?

btw i stumbled on this because i was searching for a way to move my origin point since our engineers moved theirs and IFC import is off. (have since learned I can't).

back to the original question. why would you move your origin point? it's not really an origin point in the true sense, just for a quick reference point???

There are three types of origins:

Project Origin: can't be moved and is used as a inter-file reference point.

User Origin: can be moved and is what relative coordinates refer to.

Edit Origin: temporary origin that appears when creating or editing elements. Can also be moved for on-the-fly relative coordinates.

The three are distinctively different and I recommend researching them in the Reference Guide, as you're missing out on crucial and fundamental features.

Cheers,
Link.

thank you!

I appreciate the response. I am teaching myself archicad as i work through projects and pioneering the effort for our firm. I need all the help i can get. I'll make sure to check out the reference guide with respect to origin points.

I'm having the suspicion that my problem described here is project origin related...

So, my question is, how can I find the project origin in a given file?

If you are on the Floor Plan, the User Origin is shown with a black X.
The Project Origin is shown with a grey X.
This is true if these two are not in the same position.

Double click the Set User Origin button on the standard toolbar.
This will move the User Origin back to the Project Origin.
You may have to zoom out to find it.

Achille, when importing a DWG surveyors drawing I would have to
do as Laszlo says but to make things easier I would draw a line
from x 0, y 0 and end the line in the visible window, then zoom all.

Some times the project origin was kilometres away.
