Hi Guys,

I have a question to ask everyone which has been driving me nuts. Being a new Archicad user but a long time Revit user, in Revit I would usually use the toposurface tool and place point command to pick out the height points from a survey and would be able to set the actual levels that were provided by the surveyor. I would then change my elevation height to the RL that I want which would then elevate the entire model to the level of the toposurface. I'm trying to replicate this using Archicad. I have created my mesh using the spot heights from the imported survey and elevated each point in the Z direction by inputting the actual values for instance 10750. Once I created the mesh, it is not sitting above my model so I would like to set my ground floor level at a specific RL say 10750 and for the floors above to read the next height so if the ground floor is 10750 and it has a 3m ceiling then the first floor should read 10750 + 3000 so 13750.

Can someone kindly point me in the right direction with this? Please see attached image.

Thanks for the responses. They get me close. I hadn't thought about the tie in to Story Settings. But I still have the problem of the default setting on the level dimension tool is 0'-0" when I want it to read 100'-0". I would like it to default to 100'-0" as it does now. Otherwise I have to change it every time I place the dimension and that opens me up to errors.

Change it in the default Dimension tool settings:

Thanks Marc, And this is where my head explodes. Not only do I have to open and adjust FIVE different windows to set this ONE feature it is one setting short of being fully useable. This is even worse than the Surfaces-Building Materials-Composites window waltz or the new Model Views-Renovation-Graphic Overrides confusion. And I also found a bug.
See the attached image. I open the file this morning to see the attached dimension read out. So when you make changes the Level Dimensions do not automatically update unless you move them.
And the missing setting is that while the Dimension Tool allows you to set dimension origin by default the Level Dimension Tool doesn't. Which means I have to manually change all those dimensions to the Entry Level. Because of the other useful benefits of these settings I will probably do it anyway but it is unfathomable to me that Graphisoft could so specifically program the reference levels for this purpose and then skip the most used tool. Or am I still missing something?

I see what you mean.
Forgot I made a wish a year ago.
Add Dimension Origin to the .....
(Skip down to David's Post for the workaround)

Thanks Marc, that will be added to my ArchiCAD Notes file for obscure workarounds.
I am obviously late to the game but have once again suffered the excitement and ultimate disappointment of discovering a useful ArchiCAD tool that does 80% and drops the ball. Is there a word for this? GRAPHIbotch?
Probably a good time for me to lower my expectations for the AC 21 stair tool.
The BUG however does exist and unfortunately survives the Select All and text change. You still have to physically move it. Hopefully my future projects starting with the reference levels set up correctly will help me avoid that particular bug. Off to change my template.
