Staggering Section Depth and Distant Area Limit

I decided to try the Distant Area Limit in conjuction with setting a grey line to the distant area. The problem is that the depth and distant area lines cannot be staggered, so roof planes that are continuous from near to distant, change line definition at the distant area limit line. That's clearly not acceptable. It would also be useful to be able to avoid objects in the background by staggering the depth limit line. Am I missing something? If not, I'll post a wish.
