Did you know you can make magic in Archicad?

Let me show you how Magic Wand can make you work easier and more efficient!

What is the Magic Wand?

The Magic Wand is a feature in Archicad that detects and traces shapes from existing elements or empty spaces. It allows users to quickly generate new elements by following predefined paths or closed shapes. This tool works seamlessly with any tool in the toolbox, making it versatile for various design tasks.

  •

How Does It Work?

Activating the Magic Wand

  • Press the Spacebar.

  • Alternatively, click the Magic Wand icon in the Control Box or select it via Design > Outline Polygon with Magic Wand.

Hover and Trace

  • When hovering over edges or nodes, the Magic Wand traces lines or connected paths.

  • When hovering over an empty area, it traces the nearest closed shape.

  • Upon clicking, a new element is created based on the traced shape.

  • While moving the cursor, graphical feedback shows potential results, helping users visualize outcomes before committing.

 Applications of the Magic Wand

The Magic Wand can be used with various tools and scenarios:

  • Element Creation: Generate walls, slabs, roofs, and more by tracing existing geometry.

  • Polygon Operations: Add or subtract polygons efficiently.
