Titleblock templates

Are there any tutorials out there for creating titleblocks. The process looks very different from AutoCAD, so I'm seeking advice before I begin.

Thanks,

Jason

Try opening some of the PlotMaker templates that came with the program. They have title blocks already set up for you to look at. They are on the masters so don't get frustrated trying to edit them in the drawing layouts.

How do I open the PlotMaker templates? I can't find any. What extension am I looking for? How many tilteblock masters can I expect to create? In AutoCAD, I have templates for metric, imperial, model space and paper space. With all the different sizes, that works out to about 30. In ArchiCAD, I've read you can scale down (or up) your layout books to suit, and I think you just set the units of your Titleblock master, so I'm thinking that just a few would do.

Any help on understanding titleblocks is great.

Thanks,

Jason

Jason,

What John meant was to Start PM and choose 'Create a New Layout Book' and Default Settings'. Then you'll have the standard out-of-the-box GS layout book, with awe-inspiring master sheets.

And I think Matthew was referring to the layout book in the ArchiCAD 8.1>PlotMaker Template folder called 'Default Layout Bk-Color CD.lbk'

.lbk is the extension you are looking for and there aren't any limits on the amount of masters you can create AFAIK, so knock yourself out! Although you generally only need one per sheet size, depending on your needs and methods. The you just tell each sheet what Master to use as it's 'backdrop'.

Hope that helps mate. Good luck.

Cheers,
Link.

Hmmmm...the .lbk extension was the one I was looking for. I don't have any (except for the three tutorial files), and I don't have a folder called PlotMaker Template. When I start PM and choose 'Create a New Layout Book' and Default Settings', in the Navigator, there is only one Master, and it's not the least bit awe inspiring. I don't see any of the above on my installation c.d. either. PM does work though.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Jason

I don't know what is included in the Bermuda version of ArchiCAD but in the US there are templates included in the ArchiCAD folder. They are in the folder called ArchiCAD Templates. We also have NCS templates in the "Goodies" folder.

I suppose you have International version.
Don't be afraid to create your own masters. Just set paper size and printing/plotting options and draw company standard title block in it. Everything that is standard you'll place in Master and this is what you'll have on every layout that has this master assigned. On individual layouts insert custom texts.

Save the whole document as template somewhere in separate folder for further use.
