Trace Ref upside down

Lowest storey of my Model I have a Module file that shows the stonework for my Building as Fills. The Model is modelled in 3d and I have Elevations showing each facade.

When I go to the lowest Storey and Trace Ref the Elevation it comes in either rotated or upside down. The Lowest Storey has the orientation set at 0.000 degrees and I am using the Project Map (not the Views list) to right click and use the "Show as Trace Reference" command. On the Trace Ref pallette I click the "reset trace ref" button but nothing happens. If I use the "switch reference" button I see the 3d model elevation correctly but the lowest storey as upside down, mad!

Is this just a Windows PC thing? As Windows doesn't seem to like Trace Ref much compared to how an Apple Mac handles Trace Refs.

That is correct for the default.

When you are in a plan and you set an elevation to be the reference, by default it will be positioned with storey 0 on the elevation marker line and the upper storeys in the direction the elevation is looking.

So, south (bottom) elevation will appear with 'normal' rotation and with the 0 storey level on the elevation marker line.

The north (upper) elevation will by default appear on the upper elevation line with the upper storeys going down towards the plan (upside down - rotated 180°).

The west (left will be on the left elevation lone and rotated negative 90° with the upper stories going to the right.

And the east (right) elevation will be on the right elevation line rotated 90° with the upper storeys going to the left.

These are the default positions.

If you alter them, they will remember where they were positioned and how they are rotated.

This should apply to all floor plan storeys (one trace reference applies to all storeys), so I am not sure why yours is different.

'Reset to default position' should put them back as I described above.

It would be nice if there was an option to not use Orthographic Projection for those occasions you want to be sure it is using the Project Origin as in this case. I've come into this Project late so I would have used the 3d walls to setout the stonework but as often happens people like to draw the stone out with 2d Fills so by trace reffing the 3d window elevations behind the 2d fill I can check the Fills are correct (they weren't when I got the trace ref in the right place).

The last version of ArchiCAD I used prior to working on AC28 was AC23 and it didn't have this ability, bloomin "progress" 🙂
