Unable to Insert Special Character "ø" in the Dimension Text

After I tried various encoding settings in the "Dimension Text Setting" Windows, it is so frustrating that any special character(such as ø) could not be displayed in the Dimension Text". (Figure 1)

More than that, any special character could not be displayed in the setting window! (Figure 2 & Figure 3)

The special character is correct in the Text. (Figure 4)

That totally DOES help! option+all sorts of other crazy keys works.

Just a sample of what I could get to work in the dimension tool (pretty much random key strokes on my part):

FYI:
So you don't have to use trial and error to find the symbols ....
On a Mac, you can turn on "keyboard viewer" to get a graphic representation of your keyboard and SEE how modifier keys change the characters.

To see "keyboard viewer". Open "Keyboard" in System Preferences.
Show the viewer in the menubar
Click Menubar Icon and "Show keyboard viewer".

I leave the icon in my menubar.

I think the problem reported by Kent Xiao can reside in the Chinese OS... that nobody of the repliers has...
