I set my Location, Date and Project North in: Image>3D Projection Settings> More sun
My Elevations are set to: Model Effects: Vectorial sun shadows >
Sun: As in 3D window
After changing the sun's time/day, I go to my elevation, rebuild ...but the shadows do not update.
Do I need to do more than hit "rebuild"?

You might try pushing alt+command and while holding down these keys
go to the display menu, you will see the option change to
"Rebuild and Regenerate"
Thank you,

Thanks for the suggestion, but rebuild/regenerate didn't update the shadows...

I just checked in one of our projects.
Shadows were off in the 3D window settings.
I set the S/E settings just as you have them.
I viewed the "linked" S/E window showing shadows,
went to the 3D window changed the sun angle,
went back to the S/E window, did a rebuild and,
the shadows updated.
I don't know what could be wrong.
Have you tried cutting and then pasting back in the section marker ?
Thank you,
Peter Devlin

All my elevations are set to:"as in 3D window".
Peter:
My initially switch to "as in 3D window" worked like your test. It's after I changed the sun's position a second time that it wouldn't update. Will yours update on a 2nd or 3rd try?
I haven't tried cut/paste yet... but I did create a new elevation.... but it won't update the shadows either.

I tried it with five different sun positions and the S/E window,
after rebuild, updated correctly every time.
Thank you,

Have you tried the old standby, restarting your computer ?
Honestly, sometimes that fixes weird problems.
Thank you,

I tried restarting and .... that didn't do the trick.
The elevation shadows do change when I switch between the "as in 3D window" and "custom" settings.... Found here: Elevation Selections> Model Effects> Vectorial sun shadows > Sun
I'm wondering if I'm setting the sun (sunset

I'm doing it from here..............3D projection settings ...(see jpg)
Note: the sun changes are common between the"Perspective settings " & "parallel projection" windows.
3D engine is "Open GL"
and Mode is "Shading"

I am at a loss.
Have you tried using the internal engine rather than
the OpenGL engine ?
The only reason I ask this is I am using the internal engine
and I notice you are using the OpenGL engine which is apparently
the only difference between our set-ups.
I can't imagine how this would make any difference, but who knows.
Thanks,
Peter
