the user origin changes to become the edit origin . . . and positions itself at the anchor - or other relevant point - on the object being edited. this is Useful.
i think you should read through manual about origins and co-ordinate input . . everything you want to do can be done 'on-the-fly' when you know how: no need to draw lines everywhere first . . .
