Why does the user origin marker disappear once I select an object and begin moving it? If I want to place an object in a specific place, I have to set the user origin and then draw a line from the origin to have something to snap to...
i think you should read through manual about origins and co-ordinate input . . everything you want to do can be done 'on-the-fly' when you know how: no need to draw lines everywhere first . . .

the user origin changes to become the edit origin . . . and positions itself at the anchor - or other relevant point - on the object being edited. this is Useful.that makes sense, thank you. I'll have to read up to understand how to better work in ArchiCAD... Learning on your own is not all that easy...
