Wall Intersections

Afternoon All,

I'm struggling to make these wall intersections work. What am I missing here?
Left pic shows the problem intersection. Right pic shows the desired outcome.

Wall junction order for all walls is set at 10
Brick building material is 850
Cavity building material is 800
Legacy is turned off.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Your brick/cavity/brick composite wall needs to have a weaker building material for the skin on the inside.
The skin on the outside can be the same building material as the single leaf wall, but their building material will need to be stronger than the cavity.

Thanks for the response Barry. I've tried your suggestions, but this is what I've ended up with. Is there any solution to the heavy line weights within intersections? I'm hoping to achieve a thick line on the outside, and a thinner weight for the separator lines.

Lineweights within a composite can be modified by changing the selected pens in the composites settings.

Sorry, attached now.

I'm aware that line weights are edited in the composite settings, I'm more concerned with the line weights at the ends of the walls where they intersect.

Because they are different building material there will always be a join between them.

It is not impossible to solve though.
Go back to your cavity composite with the same building material for both skins.
You will need to modify the reference lines so they are on the inside face and then manipulate the lengths of the lines so the wall trim together as you want.
You can't just let the walls automatically trim.

See the attached image and you should get the idea.

Thanks for that Barry, this nearly did the trick.

The line weights are the only thing not working here. See attached. Any idea how to lose the thick blobs at the ends of the cavities? I'd like them to be the the thinner line weight like the rest of the separators.

I don't think we are going to win here.
That line is because the cavity is a different material to the brick skin, so you are seeing the side line of the wall.

For a composite wall it is the skin separator lines.
For a standard (non-composite) wall it is the cut line pen.
But changing those will affect the outer lines of the entire wall.

Unless someone else has an idea?

Looking at the presented shape in the OP did you consider using a column with a complex profile?

That decision obviously rests on the top & bottom connections, but it might be a solution.
