When is Archicad 16 coming out ??

I know I am only starting out with archiad, but it seems a little shocking how much users have to fight the software to create organic shapes, sorry usable organic shapes.

I cant really understand it. So many other software companies have made this organic creation their bread and butter business but try to create something vers organic in archicad, you will soon start pulling your teeth out.

I just cant believe it really.
A big software company and product that so many architects use and if i was just building apartment layouts every day or a nice 2 stoey garage, then i would be a happy camper, but my bosses want wild and modern shapes and form, walls and roofs flowing like melting cheese over the roof.
and the only tool i have is archicad.

so when is this being done with archicad ?

Thanks.
Ian

It is like a crumbling foundation and shaft of an old skyscraper has never been fixed and now the add swoopy hadid gheryesque crowns at the top! How much longer can it stand with such basics being ignored and non functional ....

I have to agree totally with this as some of the basics could do with an overhaul like the roof tool got in AC15, I hope the wall tool gets an overhaul as well. Lots of the basic tools and functions do need productivity upgrading.

Maybe AC17 and 18 can focus on having all the basic features brought up to speed with a complete productivity upgrade release, similar to the V10 productivity upgrades we got?

I find the crumbling foundation to be a bit of a false analogy. To the extent that there is a foundation in a piece of software it is the core data structure and this was recently and extensively overhauled (with TW2 the most visible result).

The problem is more like a rambling manor house with sheds and barns, stables and coach houses, guest houses and conservatories, and so on, added over the years to accommodate growing needs and changing technologies. By this analogy I would argue that the summer kitchen, some of the older bathrooms and quite a few parts of the original house are in sore need of some renovation.

It would also be good to give the whole place a freshening up with new finishes to give it all a more up to date and consistent look.

Of course with all of these things it comes down to priorities and budgets. Do you add the pool house, billiard room or observatory to make the place more fun and attractive to new visitors or fix up the staff quarters and service areas to make things run better?

Great analogy! That's exactly how I feel about ArchiCAD as well.

Going along with this analogy, wouldn't it be wise at some point to stop expanding horizontally in all directions?
Hire a good architect , and do a new two story villa that is well organized, with modern rooms, amenities and circulation, filled with latest technology and built from ground up to last for decades to come?...

Definitely need to fix the staircases.

Yes this is a more precise analogy

"Time to die" are his words.

Rutger Hauer wrote that line in _Salmon's signature (and others) for Blade Runner. He asked Ridley Scott if he could say it, and Ridley agreed.

Best film ever made, adapted from one of the best science fiction novels ever written ("Do Androids Dream of Electirc Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick).
