Working with Blocks like in Autocad

Hi friends and Graphisoft Team,
First i want to say "I love archicad very much" And i thank to Graphisoft Team for this good program.
You'll sure I will never compare Archicad with Autocad
But i am begging you for an important subject.
Pleeeeeeeeease put the property of working with blocks like in Autocad instead of /or beside of .mod files.
Working with blocks in Autocad is very easy and very quick. You can create hundreds of blocks in a single project file.
This property must be in the next hotfix or version.
Thanks.

*Please explain the reason who says " not needed " .

I have moved the topic from the wishes, as the wish for editing the Modules (that is what you should be using) in place already exists.

You should use Modules, and Edit module in separate ArchiCAD option.

Dear Djordje,
Have you ever used or seen Autocad's block that i explained by pictures?
I know working with that wonderful (!) mod files. Opening them in seperate windows is totally nonsense and time killer.
I don't understand this Archicad's fanatism. I love this program but it gives me more pain.
I think it is a big wish....

It is a big wish ... that is what Djordje was trying to explain. You must search for existing wishes to avoid making a duplicate so that the votes count properly. The wish already exists here:

Vote there, and if you want to, make a post that includes a link back to this thread.

Cheers,
Karl

While library parts and modules are far more useful and powerful than AutoCAD blocks there is still considerable room for improvement.

If modules were to have their own local origin then any instance could be edited in place and saved to the source without disrupting all the other instances. This would be much easier than having to open a separate session of ArchiCAD.

Blocks can contain elements on multiple layers. Library parts could be greatly enhanced by allowing some sort of layer sensitivity to be coded in. Of course improved library part creation and editing would also be a big boost but I digress.

I think ogabson makes valid points. It's just the comparison with AutoCAD blocks which confuses the matter since they are so otherwise limited compared to ArchiCAD's functionality.

EDIT: Of course as Karl points out all this has already been wished for (many times over the years).

Hi again,
The wish already exists here:

Yes there was a big wish from 5 years ago I am very lucky that i was not that person. Otherwise now i must be a dead or must be cancer .

I wish and hope Archicad migrate the good features from other CADs and i hope Archicad will be the leader forever.

Have a nice work for all.

I understood what you want - although, as I am off AutoCAD for some 13 years, I almost forgot 😉

Karl pointed out what was the point of my post. It has been wished many times.
