i must say i am little scare of the tools/calculate...i just don't seem to be 'invited' to explore in there. but i have made zones in the different areas of my project but i can't see 'perimeter' in the zone setting.

this is where i wish i could have done the project in vectorworks!

any help.

Check to see if the zone stamp you are using has the perimeter as a parameter (easier to type that than say it). I know the "Zone Identifier2" stamp for one has the option to show the perimeter calculation in the parameters list. By toggling the parameter on, the information is shown in the stamp.

There is a zone stamp in the AC8 library named "Zone Identifier 2" which has a parameter to show the perimeter. You will need to specify this stamp for the zone type in Options > Zone Categories and then select that zone type in the settings dialog or info palette.
