changing graphic visibilities of things in different places?

really bad subject line but heres what i am getting at.

in AutoCad, i could draw something in model space, and independently change the properties of any object or line from any view port as needed by that sheet, without changing the properties of the original object/line in model space, or any other viewports?

what is the best way to accomplish this in AC15?

i have been creating new layers, coping and pasting onto other stories, and all sort of work around things. -harder not smarter.

thanks you once again.

If you're talking about line weight or pen color, that is done with the Pen Table for the placed drawing (viewport).

If you're talking linestyle, that is not possible.

What else would you like to change about the view in different layouts?

thanks Karl,

that gives me a kick in the right direction.

will this work for walls and other objects as well as simple lines?

i am playing with this seeing if it works.

but in short, a "block" in the pen grid will determine the looks of an item. so if i wanted that same item to look different, in another "viewport" i would just create another pen set, and edit the grid as needed?

-if this is so, and i understand it correctly, i would run into problems when objects share the same pen "block" whereas by changing the properties of a layer it would not matter.

I might be making this harder than needed. I am just trying to reach the same result from CAD in AC.
