creating studs for walls

In my brief training, I remember being able to toggle between showing studded walls and 3-d walls without studs. We go to walls accessories (the only place where we see anything for studs) and for some reason, studs only come if on half the walls and mirror imaged on the opposing walls> What am I doing wrong?

First, you are using archicad 9, so things are a bit different. Also, we set upm our screen to look like your and still got only half the wall to show studs. My students created walls by using wall icon from the toolbox. Now they are trying to toggle between seeing studs and not for location purposes but they can't. It appears as if you are in windows accessories which means having to recreate the walls? Under wall framing settings (which is our custom settings), we don't it to preview like yours. Also, not sure if you created the multi-views behind it or not but we can only create a top view. Please advise on the best way to make walls so we can see them with or without studs when we need to (also, how do we toggle between them).

Thanks for your help

Under wall framing settings (which is our custom settings), we don't it to preview like yours. you will when you togle the "Show Framing elevation" option Also, not sure if you created the multi-views behind it or not but we can only create a top view. just turn on the "Show in elevaton feature" Please advise on the best way to make walls so we can see them with or without studs when we need to (also, how do we toggle between them).

Step one is to configure the wall accessories object to display what you want to see and how you want to see it. Be sure you save to Favorites when you get it how you like it so it wont take so long to configure it next time.

Be sure you assign a layer for the wall framing you can turn on and off as needed.

Below are some pictures of some settings that work. with 8.1.0 R2 USA (2284)

Draw walls-select walls-click Extras-Accessories-Wall Accessories-select the Wall Framing object-configure-save as a Favorite-click OK-your cursor will turn into an eye-click anywhere on the screen and it will generate your wall framing. To control the display just turn toggle the layer the objects are on, on and off.

Steve answered this: as in most* things, layers and layer combinations control visibility. Your walls and the wall accessory should be in different layers.

* "most" rather than "all", since the visibility of some things is controled by Display Options. Not relevant here though.
