displaying elements on selected stories

Is there a way to choose which stories one wants elements to display on.
For example:
- showing a car object on ground floor and on a site plan.
- showing a tree object on ground, first, roof and site. Not on second.

thanks

As I recall the choices are to show library parts on their home story and, optionally the stories above and below, or all relevant stories. The latter is dependent on the values of some parameters (ac_toplevel and ac_bottomlevel as I recall) which you may or may not be able to adjust to your needs. It sounds like the above and/or below home story options should take care of the conditions you mention. The option is available in the settings dialog and the info palette (the latter may not be in all Work Environments).

As Matthew mentioned you don't have a huge amount of choices when it come to objects on storeys.
You may be able to do some scripting in GDL that wll give you more control.

But it is very easy to control objects by layer and layer combinations.
So instead of setting up different storeys for floor plan, site, plan, roof plan, etc., you could have them all on the same storey but controlled with layer combinations.

It may not suit your particular job/template setup now but it is certainly something to consider when setting up a new template.

I like to keep it simple and have a storey for each floor level and then use layer combinations for each plan view.
That gives me the best layer control for objects - especially stairs.
