Thanks for noticing. The entire roof is modeled with just the one object. Conoid 14.

The swayback ridge means that every row of tile has a different curve, and the roof slopes in two directions directions in some areas since the hips are curved as well.

If I was getting paid for it, I would demonstrate that this kind of roof can be exquisitly modeled with ArchiCAD only and no .gdl scripting.

You just have to be clever.

No no. I did not use Objective. This is done only with regular ArchiCAD, no plug-ins or anything like that.

There are some tricks to it. In the Objective illustration, the objects are multiplied vertical to fit a curve. This only takes care of fitting the one curve but the roof is actually curving in two directions at one time in some places.

There is a little secret about how to multiply with vertical displacement along the curve of the roof running the other way. Horizontal, not vertical.

Think of how the tiles will actually be placed. This is the key to modeling everything. Do it exactly how it will be constructed and in the same order.

Doing this is very easy, but very hard to say with words.
