issues with importing a 3ds...

I'm attempting to import a 3ds file or a DWG of a chair made from the manufacturer and for some reason it is not working. So far, here is how I am going about it:
extras->import 3ds->convert 3ds to GDL

when i go to locate the file, it is grayed out and i cannot select it.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm using Archicad 9.

If anyone cares, its the Eams Plywood table found here:
www.hermanmiller.com/CDA/SSA/3D/0,1646,a4-c996-pc5,00.html

Thanks!

Just tried it myself. Same result - the file is grayed out. Perhaps it is a newer format that the add-on can't read. You could try the DWG (though the quality will probably be less) or see if you can import to some other program. If you don't have anything like Cinema 4D or such you can download the demo of SketchUp Pro. It is fully functional for 8 hours which is good enough to test the 3DS file.

Thanks for the fast response.

Now I know that it's not just me. And I don't really have time with screwing around with it and sketchup. I tried the DWG version and it still gave me the same problem, even after opening the file and saving it as a 2000.

Thanks

there is no "library and object" under file for version 9.

however, i did get somehwere with something else but i got the following errors
ACAPI_LibPart_Create Error: 1
ACAPI_LibPart_Save Error: 1
ACAPI_LibPart_ShapePrims Error: 104
ACAPI_LibPart_UpdateSection 2d script Error: 104

anyone have any clue what in the hell that means? I was importing a 3ds extras>import found the file, and this is what i get. The 3ds was created from a dwg 2000 file, so it should work...

I guess its just one of those days...
