Use two different building materials, one for inside and one for outside just like you would build it.
Doing it this way also allows easier labelling and quantities etc

Another thing to try is to place Complex Profile Beams in the Intersection of the Wall and Slab to solve the situation. Then in the Profile Manager you can define the skins (components) of the Complex Profile to your requirements.

Yes, your example does work, but as I see it in Matt's case the Wall's base is lower than the bottom of the Slab.
