set user origin

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have just begun learning to use ArchiCAD - I am using the Step By Step training guide. I have created a user origin and then click on this user origin to begin to create a rotated rectangular form. The user origin point does not "stay put", however; it moves to one of the background grid points. How do I get it to "stay put"?

What version of ArchiCAD are you using?

When you start to create or edit something, ArchiCAD presents you with an Edit origin, which is different than your Project Origing and your User Origin. It only appears when you start an operation so that everything is now based of that (Edit) Origin. It makes things easier, believe it or not. It can be relocated just like the User Origin. Look it up in the Help to get an even better understanding of it.

Michael:

Also check to see that Grid Snap is off. In some of the Work Environments simply hitting the "s" key turns it on, so it can easily be turned on by mistake.
