how can i twist a shape around a centre ,for example twisting a column around a point out of the column ,without touching it.

Yes, Nik, that's right.
AF is great for twisting one profile into another, for example, But, to take an arbitrary chunk of model, created using any tools whatsoever, and twist it, MaxonForm is the answer. For example, if you were modeling a creepy house for Disney with windows, doors and all other elements and then wanted to twist the entire thing in an even creepier way ... only MaxonForm will do that.
Perhaps hana farhadi can post an image of what he/she wants to accomplish and we can all offer better advice.
