where have the textures gone.

I guess I made the mistake of updating my 12 library and all my textures are gone! Where does archicad store them now adays? It appears nowhere. I thought for the sake of simplicity, i would use the archicad base file, and add only textures as I need them, to my own firm library. They are still there, but the stock textures are gone.

The library update ONLY replaces the LCF file, Shae. All of the other subfolders of the library folder remain intact. If you erased them, you'll have to recover from a backup, or re-install.

Thanks Karl, especially for all your help over the years. IT seems right after I send in a question, what I did becomes clearer, even though a solution might not. I was tired of loading a bunch of different libraries, so what I did was re-"container" my archicad library with textures, so when it replaced it, bam boom, all my textures are gone. It's my own stupid fault, trying to cut corners. Live and learn huh.

do you think I can locate the textures on the cd?

you can do a custom install, and just install the library

my disks are 20 miles away. I guess I will have to fetch them.

A good method is to always copy the contents of the install disk onto your hard drive so you always have them available in cases such as this. I think as a licenced user one is allowed to create such a backup copy.
