Edit post

Hi,

Why can I edit my own post but can't edit a reply in someone else's post?

Hi,

Maybe the post you're trying to edit your reply to has been locked?

You are simply not permitted to edit anyone else's post.

Otherwise we would be in all sorts of trouble.

Imagine if people started editing your posts because they didn't agree with what you said.

You can only edit what you post yourself.

I think the question actually was: why can't I edit my own reply in someone else's post, not other peoples posts.

Yes that's right, why can't I edit my own reply in someone else's post, not other peoples posts?

Now I re-read the post, that would seem to be what it is asking.

Anyone should be able to edit a reply so long as it is their own and the post has not been locked.

Just click on the 3 dots to the right of the reply.

I can't test it though, because as moderator, I can edit anyone's post.

Yes, but the option 'Edit reply' is not available  when you want to edit the reply in someone elses post.

I'll bring this to @Noemi Balogh 's attention.

Noemi, have you any ideas why Dontknow can't edit there own replies?

When I track down the post from the screen shot, in what you have posted,

it tells me the it is locked,

and I assume  the entire thread is locked as the thread has this at the bottom of it and all the "Post reply" are greyed out.

I don't know if this helps.
