2 different scaled views of the 1 drawing.... not working??

howdy

i have a drawing set-up in the project map that has certain info on it and scaled at say..... 1:50

from there i want to have 2 "view maps" views of that drawing.... 1 @ 1:50 with layer combo X and another view of it at 1:100 with layer combo Y

HOWEVER..... whenever i mavigate between the 2 viewsets the scale of the drawing does not change.... even though the viewset setting shows that view 02 is 1:100 it still shows at 1:50

if i change the projec map scale to 1:100... when i navigate to the view-map of view 01 it shows at 1:100 (and not 1:50)

round and round we go

is there something i am missing... or is this NOT the way to approach this problem?

any help/guidance/insight would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Is the view a clone or did you just change settings and "Save current view"?

thanks for the reply

One is a clone, and the other is a saved view.

is it possible to make 2 clones?

maybe better to create 2 saved views and no clones?

best option?

thanks

Clones are nice especially when working with a multiple story building. Trying right clicking on the main view then select View Settings. Make sure that the Scale is set properly there. These are the setting that define the view itself.

i have done some further tests

i have created a drawing in the project map at 1:100

i have then created a "view" of that at 1:100 and 1:50 (no clones involved this time)

when i click on each view in the navigator i can see the scale change... HOWEVER.... the actual drawing scale does not change (the scale at the bottom left of the drawing shows whatever scale the actual drawing is set to and NOT the scale of the view)

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

I assume that you by "create a drawing" meant that you created a viewpoint in the project map.

When you Save Views, they are listed in the Navigator's View Map list. If you click on a saved view there, it will open in a new or existing screen window with the scale saved with the view.

If you click on a viewpoint in the Project Map list, it will show while retaining the current screen window's visibility settings, layer combination, scale etc.

Consult the Help file for more info.

thomas

here are the steps i follow:
- create independant section @ 1:100 (shows up in navigator>prohect map)
- swap over to navigator>view map
- save current view as section 1:100
- save a seconf current view... this time setting scale to 1:50

both views source the original independant section create in step 1

however.... even though the view setting show the scales are different... when i activate the view... the scale in the bottom left of the drawing window still says that the view is set to the same scale as the drawing in the project map

i hope that this is clear

anyone?

thanks

How do you activate the view?

Well, no. (edited) If you have saved the view's scale setting correctly (open the cloned view, change settings as you like, open the View Settings dialog and click the button "Get current view's settings" and then click OK) and it still doesn't work, then you have a bug or something is wrong with your installation. It works here.

I guess re-install is the best option.
