Circular Walls in Elevation

How do I get rid of the unsightly join line on a circular turret / tower wall?

I've drawn the wall using the circle geometry method. AC split it into two semi-circles (I can deal with that if I have to), but then it shows the join in elevation! What the?

And yes, the material, fill, height, layer...everything is the same and should join up without a line.

I don't think there's any getting rid of those lines Bruce. You could use a complex profile column, but then you'll probably have display issues in plan.

No can do - this tower wall has windows. At the moment I've just drawn a white line over the offending ones. Bit annoying though.

But for the windows....

Yes it is annoying, but apparently it's a necessary evil.

I wonder if Revit has the same 'necessity'?

What version are you in ?
This problem of a visible joint between circular walls
has been with us since circular walls were introduced
in Archicad. I just tested this in AC 10 and I could not
see a joint even after changing the sun angle etc.
Maybe GS has fixed this in AC 10.

Version 10, build 1010. I'm also having display problems with edges of curved walls not showing in elevation. Anyone else come across this problem?

I just tried making a circular wall again and viewed it in 3D.
With the Internal Engine there was no joint and the edges showed
but with the OpenGL, the joint showed and one edge didn't.

OK - but I'm not talking about the 3d window. I'm having issues in the Section/Elevation windows

I was finally able to reproduce the joint line in the Section/Elevation window
and in the 3D window. I was unable to reproduce the disappearing edge.
What I did was make a circular wall with 135° of included angle
and then I made a another circular wall to complete the circle.
I think it has to do with the resolution of the walls.
Making the 135° wall join with a 225° wall forced Archicad
to join the walls at a plane change and inbetween facits
so it appears as an edge joint and the two edges do not lay in a plane.
The only way I can get a disappearing edge is to make
two identical walls in the same place. This will make the
top and bottom edges disappear in Section/Elevation.
