Is there an easier way to manage layers?

Is there an easier way to manage layers?

When I create a new layer I have to go through the full list of Layer Combinations to set visibility etc, and in particular to set the intersection numbers.
This has always been a bit of bugbear for me, even when there were only a dozen or so Layer Combos in the default template. Now the UKI version has over 30, and I have probably added a similar number, so it takes ages.

1. Would it not be possible to copy a layer, taking up it's characteristics, from which I could then make a few select changes as need be.
2. Why is it not possible to (as default) set the same intersection number for all layer combos? I rarely want different intersection behavior in differing views.

Incidentally, When I do change all the numbers I generally select the layer combo at the to of the list, place my cursor after the number (which is "1" by default) and rather than deleting it, I add another digit making it "11" say, then I can hit the down arrow, hit "1" again and repeat to the bottom of the list: it's the quickest way I have found to change all those numbers - but it feels silly - like an embarrassing workaround.

So is there a better way? Can the dialogue be improved?

If you select your new layer (only one) and then look at the Layer Combinations to the left you will see the status of your new layer in each on the combos. You can then quickly update where you want the new layer visible and its other states for each combo.

I'm assuming you are adding a single layer at a time to suit the project? If you are adding lots of the same layers then maybe a template update/creation may be more appropriate.

You might want to create a poll for this so we can vote for it.
I myself have many time wished this was possible to do, and not only for Layer Intersection Numbers, but visibility (or any of the 4 settings of Layers) as well.
So for example I change the Layer Intersection Number of a Layer for one Layer Combination and the change is propagated to all Layer Combinations automatically. This behavior (change Layer Setting for individual Layer Combination or propagate to all Layer Combinations) could be controlled by a checkbox in the Dialog.

It would probably be useful to be able to select multiple combinations at the same time and apply changes to all selected combinations rather than just a 'one or all' approach. This could easily be used to change all at the same time by simply selecting all of the combinations.

Similar functionality to selecting multiple emails and marking them all as read or deleting them.
