Everytime I open the file they are not the way I saved them.
Do I have to lock all layers before saving each time, and then unlock them when I open the file again to work on it?

I think that in AC11 the layer intersection numbers are saved with the viewsets.

they have always been saved bylayer combinations. . . which, of course, constitutes a part of the view definition . . .

Turn one layer off in a view set you are working on and if you want to save that new view, you will have toreset all of the layer intersect group numbers. Can I remember them all? No.
The causes me a lot of extra work.
I would prefer that when I assign a layer intersect group number in the Layer Settings window that it will stay that way unless I change it.
No automatic return to default settings please.

I have no interest in reducing my productivity for the sake of orthodoxy.
I don't think it is reasonable to for the program to revert back to its default setting in I do not save my intersect group numbers in a view set.
It should stay the way I put it. That way each view set I create after that will also have those settings.
Can you change all intersect group numbers for all view sets at one time?
That would help.

Views can be used to your advantage, if you choose to use them!
Just trying to help...
