Modules, Hotlinks and Layers

We working in a project that has been divided in four modules.
Until now we have used the same layers and layers combination,
now we thinking about adding a different prefix for each layer of a module,to identify one module layer from another, in order to have more control. Clearly that increase the numbers of layers every time we insert a module.
We want your opinion and tell us if is a good idea or if there are other options.
We are open to all suggestions.

Maybe you could explain what benefit you hope to achieve by this? It sounds like a nightmare to me. You realize when you hotlink the modules into a master file that each module can be given its own 'master layer' to control overall module visibility, beyond the normal layers/layer combos?
