Not sure if it's my computer or what...the Quick Layer palette doesn't stay active for long; meaning that it will not response if it's opened on the screen. I've to close and open it in order for it to work. Has anyone this problem ?

Yep. Among the Quick Layer palette's many old quirks, this was new, added in 14 (on Mac, as usual). AFAIK still not fixed despite 5 bugfix releases of 14. Don't know if it's fixed in 15.
