Unlocking AutoCAD format import...

I am trying to import an AutoCAD drawing but when I bring it in everything on the drawing is grouped together. I unlocked all of the layers that seemed to be locked but still cannot manipulate elements. I've also tried exploding everything but that doesnt work either. Does anyone know how I can get this done?

Upon trying to figure this out, I found that I need to somehow explode an xref file... the program is telling me that what I am selecting is an uneditable xref file. Can I work make this editable somehow?
In order to edit the elements, you need to 'Bind' the XREF in XREF Management.

You also might need to Ungroup to get the bound XREF manageable.

either use Ungroup - ( not recommended for "big" drawings)
or use - Suspend Groups

For the Xref go to File-> External Content-> Xref Management
select the Xref and select attach
