If you check the Wiki, you will see that Archicad is not supported on Vista yet, so you can expect problems.

That being said, I was at a firm that was running AC10 on Vista. I had expected it would be a mess when they opened the 3D window because I thought openGL wasn't supported, but it looked and performed just fine, so I am wondering also about other user's experiences with Vista....

We seem to have gotten through most of the bugs that have been reported with Vista and AC 10.
My Issude now is that I cannot save the file- it says it can not save, or can not open the plan file...

Also Quicktime (now 7.1.6) is not yet supported on Vista which means you cannot save quicktime movies. (fly-through, vr object/scene)

Of course you could save AVI-s, but Vista has a bug which makes it impossible. It will be fixed in Service Pack 1.

So if you need movies, then switch when either of them is fixed.

If you wait for ArchiCAD 11, you will have better support.

I have tried AC10 EDU on Vista 64-bit and it worked more or less:
- no WIBU drivers at that time (now they are available)
- no Amyuni driver support (not required anymore with AC11)
- no Aero interface (no problem)
- rather slow

But it seemed to be compatible at first sight. I have not tested extensively and did not install AC10 on my current Vista install anymore.

Apparently Cigraph is counting on ArchiCAD 11 to be Vista certified.
I hope it will be soon.

New computers are shipping with Vista. so it is not really optional anymore.

The client I work with bought one and I was working on getting a usable AC9 workstation out of it. (athlon 64x2/geforce 8800) Based on the recommendations and custom install without gs shell extension, then before running downloading the wibu driver installation was successful.
the 3d model in opengl was obscured and was visible only during rotation. Downloading the latest nvidia driver fixed this problem, but it might be a side effect of a new driver, since Vista has turned the color scheme to Vista Basic claiming that the new driver is not compatible with the Aero color scheme.
after that so far (1 day) here are the still outstanding problems/issues:

-for any other account than the admin (under which AC was installed) Archicad exits with the following: Application failed to initialize: error 0x0002, even if the account has system administrator privileges.

-plotmaker is crashing (not responding) frequently when updating a freshly published pmk file from archicad

-the pdf problem I plan to work around with checking a vista compatible version of PDFCreator - a freeware I was very happy with on XP

-There is no designjet driver for Vista (AT ALL, let alone 430 with jetdirect)
so I installed a laserjet driver with the jetdirect ip address, and plotmaker did plot to that driver without any problem- so far

From what you describe it sounds like it would be cheaper to install XP.
