changing layer settings after placing sections?

I have already placed 4 layouts of building sections (4 per sheet = 16)
and this brings up a question that I have been working around for a while.
If all the building sections have the furniture layer turned on when creating them and at some time in the future I decide that I would not like to
show the furniture, is there a way to turn the layer off on all of the placed sections without having to replace all of them individually?

Yes. That is why you create "Layer Sets" and "Saved Views".

When you saved your sections to placed them on layouts you had to choose a Layer Set for that Saved View at a later date if you edit that Layer Set to turn the Furniture off then all drawings that use that Layer Set will automatically (on update) turn them off.

I saved the layer settings in a quick view that has the furniture turned on. I just tried to redefine that view with the furniture turned off and it didn't remove the furniture from the sections. Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by layer sets and where this is controlled. I think I'm stuck with the furniture on those unless I want to replace them all.

Time to start reading:

A placed drawing in Layout has specifc settings that you assign. These include layer sets, scale, line weight, dimension settings etc. If these settings are correctly defined then if you edit the relevant one all the drawings that are "connected" to it will change.

Is it something I can do after the placing of all the sections on the layouts?
If not, I'm just going to let it go for now.
Thank you!

It is something you can do after the Views are placed on the layouts. To assign a Layer Combination to different drawings.
Right click on all the drawings either by page or using Navigator View map and edit the Layer Combination

Create a layer combination with all the original layers of the sections except without the furniture layer and then go to the modify source view settings dialog and select the new layer combination there?

The video tutorial would not play.

Thanks.
