Trial edition cannot read this document version. (14.0)

I had been running AC14 EDU. I just installed AC15 Trial. None of my old 14 files will open. I get this error message: Trial edition cannot read this document version. (14.0).

any ideas on how I can open these files in 15? Do I need to migrate them, or something else?

Does anyone know if my conflict is because I'm trying to open a AC14 EDU file with a AC15 Trial version? I want to make sure that if I get a PPU key, that I can still access my older AC14 EDU files for reference, but also to complete my personal house remodel plans i did with the EDU version to keep up my CAD chops while I was back in school.
