it appears that you cannot access a shared project's attributes through the Attribute Manager nor merge a shared project using the Merge command. Has anyone discovered otherwise? My workaround for both situations is to save out a temporary PLN and access that. Not a big deal but a definite missing link.

I assume you may already know you have to reserve the attribute manager before proceeding. If you do not have that option, have you reviewed the roles and its allowed access? Beyond that, hopefully someone else will pitch in.
I am still waiting for TW to be set up here so that's why my comments seem a little restricted. Who knows, along the same path you may also figure out how to work the file merging.
