Fill text moving between users in teamwork

Kpetrocheilou

Hello everyone,

I am working in teamwork in a big project and we have placed fills with text in some areas. My colleague has manually moved the text in the right position, and we both did send & receive couple of times, but I keep seeing the text in a completely different place. We are both working in the same scale, and we have the same version (and updates) of AC. "Always readable" is selected from the Text style menu.

Below a screenshot of the problem in my computer. The text in the red frame should be in the position where the arrow points.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Katerina

Hi @Laszlo Nagy , thank you for your expertise on teamwork and collaboration and helping with this issue. I am not a teamwork user but if a zone was used to calculate the area would that also jump out of place with teamwork file sharing ? I wouldn’t think that it would because of its unique properties in it being linked to the BIM and being able to extract other data from the model. We could end up spending more time resetting as you have mentioned in your solution above.

Wouldn’t it be best practice to use a zone for the area rather than an area fill or split zones when areas overlap ?

I don't have any specific recommendation as to the frequency of this cleanup as I do not have enough experience with Teamwork Projects to be able to say. I think this is just something that is worth knowing and keeping in mind in case of any such or similar display issue. So, I would probably clean the Local Data files only if some kind of issue arises or when I no longer work on a Teamwork Project and therefore Local Data for that specific project is no longer needed on my computer.

I think both Fill and Zone are good solutions and they both get the job done. Normally, you would expect both Fill Area Text and Zone Stamp or Zone Label text to be displaying where it was originally placed on all members' computers of a Teamwork Project. But of course, glitches like this can occur, so it is fortunately that the above steps solve the issue.
