Affected versions: BIMcloud 2020.2, 2022.3, 2025.3 and later
Each BIMcloud installer can update installations from a limited range of earlier versions only. Because of this, an older BIMcloud or BIM Server installation cannot always be updated to the latest version in a single step. It has to be updated gradually, through one or more intermediate versions first.
The table below shows the recommended update path for each starting point.
| If you are running | Recommended update path to the latest version |
|---|---|
| BIMcloud / BIM Server 19, 20 or 21 | Update to 2020.1, then to 2020.2, then to 2022.3, and finally to the latest version. |
| BIMcloud 2018.2 to 2020.1 | Update to 2020.2, then to 2022.3, and finally to the latest version. |
| BIMcloud 2020.2 to 2022.1 | Update to 2022.3, then to the latest version. |
| BIMcloud 2022.3 or newer | Update directly to the latest version. |
There are three points in the release history where the supported range changed and an intermediate step became necessary:
Note: Always create a full backup of your BIMcloud / BIM Server data before running any update.
If you are still running BIM Server 19, 20 or 21, please follow these steps:
For each installer, update BIMcloud Manager on the first run, then run the installer again to update BIMcloud Server as well.
If you are running a BIMcloud version between 2018.2 and 2020.1, please follow these steps:
For each installer, update BIMcloud Manager on the first run, then run the installer again to update BIMcloud Server as well.
If you are already running BIMcloud 2020.2 or newer, you can update to the latest version with fewer steps, as shown in the table above. The latest BIMcloud version is always available on our Download page.
