How do most of you emulate the lay in place tile ceiling systems? Has anyone developed an easy to use texture, or do actually build the slabs and tracks???

Thanks for the help.

millard posted a step-by-step of his method not long ago . . .

In C4D, there was actually a tutorial model of an office foyer that showed exactly how this was done, texturally...
There was a base texture of the acoustic panels using colour & bump-mapping (Just a straight texture, no jointing). Secondly, there was a series of decal-mapped textures for the flouro diffusers, positioned to your liking. Thirdly, there was an alpha-channelled texture for the ceiling grid system. Lastly, there was a texture for what appears to be edge trim, although this probably just overcomplicates it a bit...

Hope this helps,
Justin

I can't wait for AC9 or any other version to be able to create that nice soft uniform lighting of the CD4 image that you posted.

The interior lighting sucks in AC9, ceilings are never properly lit, and light cones are gross...

I guess I should probably have posted a pic. of the method I described also. Here 'tis, this is the image that the C4D radisoity tutorial generates (on my machine) in just over 5 minutes...
