Eljoron/others,
I am replying again in hopes that someone might be able to continue this conversation.
Does any one know how to turn off the center light flare in the line light?
I have tried several renders with the surface as emitter, and I have to conclude that it is poor at best. the light is unpredictable, and uncontrollable and even bumping up settings to 3000+ there are still so many artifacts not to mention render time gets unwieldy to be sure.
I have also tried to use the area light as a strip and place it over the lights, though this fails when attempting to angle and skew the light as one would on the surface of a sloped ceiling. The light can be directed but only to a target surface, which makes it near impossible to align with the fixture geometry. As well, one you have angled or sloped the light it can no longer be adjusted for length or width in plan, which as you know ( a sloped surface will need to be longer to be the same length in plan) this leaves this tool pretty unusable in this regard. If you look through the tutorials on this tool (the scene by the pool) you can see that the are area lights they construct are also not matched correctly).
While the glow option is easily worked around in post process, the inability to get realistic light to act as expected seems close to insurmountable.
I am still confused as to how or why it is so difficult to create a usable light that would resemble a florescent or LED strip.
Any one run into this or figure out a work around?
Thanks,
