Help with materials

I have a slate floor tile 12"x12" jpg I want to use for a slate floor. It will be a border around a wood floor. How can I line up the tiles to start where I want them to start in a photo rendering (We were thinking of doing a photorendering of the plan view.)????

Please say I can do it in Archicad!!!
Thanks,
Michele

Create a material with the jpg as the 'Texture', making sure the dimensions are correct. Apply that material to the top of your slab and use the Align 3D Texture command from your Edit menu.

Sorry about the short reply, but I'm 'flat out like a lizard drinkin'.

If you need clarification, please let me know

Cheers,

Sorry - I should have read this better. For an insert, you could cut a hole in the main slab and insert a new slab where the tiles are to go. This insert is what you want to apply your new material to.

Clear as mud?

Or you could use Solid Element Operations with Addition and a little imagination, if you really wanted to impress your colleagues at the next ArchiBBQ

Okay - I'm done.

Small tip to Link: there is an "Edit" button so you can modify your own message, instead of posting new ones. Unless you want to have a high post count, of course 😉

Stephan,

While I generally use the edit button, I have occasionally "double posted" for dramatic (?) effect. I noticed that the post count doesn't increase with immediately subsequent posts. Clever system, eh.

I want to align the photorendered view of the texture and I can't see that in only the 3D window.

By asking for "Textures" in an OpenGL window, texture patterns are revealed.

Matthew:

Two immediate postings that are identical will add to the posting number.
However, this is not easy to see since the website updates all of your posting windows with the new total.
