New ArtLantis 5 preview!

As I mentioned at another forum, last week there was a public presentation of ArtLantis 5 by Gerard (I think) from Abvent at the ArchiCAD University in Nottingham (btw thank you DNC).

The only information you get on the web about this new version of ArtLantis are some pretty sad looking renderings.

Also, with the launch of ArchiCAD 9 and it´s new Lightworks engine, there is a lot of talk about the "new" rendering capabilities of these programs.

I would like to tell something to you guys who didn´t have the previlege (?) of seeing the presentation of ArtLantis 5:

It will blow your hat's off!!!

I, for one, will not loose a second learning to work with Lightworks.
I´ll just sit tight and wait for the release of Abvents new version.

If this subject is something you want to hear about, I´ll do my best to explain what I have seen.

I couldn't say.
If I knew, I couldn't say.
If I knew, I couldn't admit I knew.
If I didn't know, I couldn't say.
But I would not tell a lie.

"Soon."

I will distract you from this obsessive geekdom, since no matter how you have touted the new release, it won't be perfect, by introducing you around.

Lot of women around here would keep house for a man in Portugal with a steady job.

PS: Did another interior job with LightWorks this week and it has pretty good soft shadows - easily controlled, too.

Dwight,

Any way to get good 3d vegetation into AC9/Lightworks?

Thanks

Why worry - the new engine opens things up.

Attached is an Onyx Tree Pro sample -prunus virginiana- as rendered in LightWorks. This application makes overly real trees. The algorhythm [I got algorhythm - who could ask for anything more?] makes too much randomness so they give a little pruning saw. Then you have to spray for pine beetle with the little spray bottle and face mask.[first one true - second one joke]

Hoshino has a great seasonal collection of 3D trees and bushes - long time favorites.

A trick for finer leaves is to make translucent leaves with alpha channel holes and make bigger leaf plates...

This is rendered with three suns diverging at 5 degrees - nice for dappled leaf shadows.

What were you expecting- there's lots of 3D trees around that work pretty good? And what are you using now that you do not like?

not that I know, but you could make pictures from the top of a 3D tree and save for later...
