Some of you may remember back to the days of ArchiContest.com - anyway the winner, David Silvernell, has moved on since then to become the owner of a very successful web site that provides rendering tools to artists, designers and architects.

The web site: http://www.got3d.com

Currently the web site features the work of Neil Marshall & Eduardo Castillo, be sure to browse their wonderful renders.

Here is how it works at Got3D.com - First you can click and browse the many previews of the textures offered, then in each section you can download a free sample. Test them out yourself these billboards are done right. The edges blend right into your renderings. Great Alpha channel work!

Then once you see the excellent value of the wares, you can subscribe to the ongoing, ever expanding product line. The fees are either one time or monthly, either way these textures offer a refreshing set of people models - upbeat contemporary and natural in their looks and poses.

Merry Christmas,

PS On an image-analysis note: the generally beautiful image by Neil Marshall at:

showing a woman in a red top and gray jeans sitting on the end of a bed ... demonstrates one of the major problems with the use of cutouts, particularly for people: the light on the woman does not match the light in the scene. Her right shoulder and thigh, facing us, should be in shadow, as is the edge of the bed. She even casts a shadow towards the viewer. Also, the floor has reflectivity, and yet her shoe and leg show no reflection, only shadow.
